The Humble Beginnings of Dance Move Monday

In Customer Success, we’re always looking for ways to connect with our awesome Unbounce customers. Sometimes it can feel like we only talk with customers when they need help along the way, but importantly we aren’t only a Support team – we’re a Success team – and one of our ongoing goals is to “fungage” more of our customers.

…and this is how we ended up performing Spice Girls’ Motown-inspired banger, Stop, last Friday evening.

To help us make Unbounce better, we ask our customers for feedback after their first month. This feedback is super valuable because it gives our users a chance to let us know how we’re doing and what we could be doing better. The last question we ask is “How could your first 30 days with Unbounce have been even better?”

A couple of weeks ago, one of our customers responded: “Do the macarena.”

Never a group to shirk our customer relationships, the Success team laced up our dancing shoes and re-learned Los Del Rio’s epic 90s toe-tapper. Not only was the customer pretty chuffed about the whole thing generally (“UNBOUNCE FOR PRESIDENT”), it also turned out he received the video ON HIS BIRTHDAY!

Spurred on by this success (and a challenge from our friends at Hootsuite) the following week we again donned our dancing finest and took on the Village People’s arms-aloft classic, the YMCA. Aside from a minor injury when Mitchelle’s “Y” met abruptly with Johnny’s face, it was an unbridled success.

And so was born Dance Move Monday here at Unbounce. You can tweet us, email us, or respond to this post with your favourite dance and we will do our best to recreate it (or at least 15 seconds of it) faithfully. I’m not going to lie, there will be dodgy choreography, occasional injuries, and we’ll be lucky if we can get Ahmed in sync just 1 week out of the year, but we’re happy to do it knowing it might bring us a little closer to our customers.

Watching you guys perform these on Friday at beer o’clock is becoming my favourite part of ending the week…

I’m with Carter. #DMM has given us: a new TLA, renewed hope for the startup music scene, and the best reason to be on Instagram every week. Rock on CS, rock on.

I’d like to see a little Saturday Night Fever action circa John Travolta in the white polyester pantsuit 1979. Or is it 1978? Do the Hustle!

    I heart this.
